The core team, led by Christine Kim , has consolidated years of widespread research into a well-structured answer to the quantum computing threat. Today, the team released a post-quantum security roadmap detailing BIP-360, plus SHRINCS, plus Lifeboat, and Dropkick as crucial, coordinated interventions that offer a comprehensive solution to the long-term risk. The post-quantum security roadmap aims to proactively protect against potential threats quantum computing could pose to the blockchain. The plan focuses on providing end-to-end security for the blockchain infrastructure, validators, private states, and wallets. Deadline for quantum-resistant encryption migration Today, Bitcoin developers published their proposed roadmap highlighting key priorities for the layer-1 network to accomplish quantum resistance (by December 2029) across data layers, consensus, and execution. This timeline coincides with phased migration plans from institutions including Microsoft, Cloudflare, and Google.
